Workshops Offered
I have presented 3 hour workshops to both professional groups, and the public. Professionals have received 3 credits of continuing education when attending these workshops on the following topics: 1) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and 2) Stress Management.
The workshop on PTSD employs vignettes of a film that explores the phenomenon of PTSD on the survivors of a plane crash. I provide a framework for discussion before showing each vignette, and subsequently, allow the participants to respond to questions regarding PTSD as portrayed by the situations and characters in the film. This allows for an interactive approach with the participants of the workshop.
In the Stress Management Workshop, the talk is divided into 4 parts:
1) Why is training in Stress Management important today?
2) What is Stress?
3) Why is it a greater problem than ever?
4) What can we do about it?
Again, as a means of making the experience more meaningful to those who participate, I encourage their active involvement in the workshop. I last gave this workshop to a training group of educators from Bangladesh when I was teaching psychology graduate students in Bangkok.
I also have done several presentations to both the public and professional groups on Assertive Training.
